Chevy Flatbed Scaler
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:10:31 AM »

My JK is nearing completion to so I wanted to start a build to run in the WARCRC "Team Trail Run" Class - 10" max wb, 4" max tire height.

Here's where we're headed:

Clod Body
Probably axial axles
Super Narrow Offset CAC beadlocks
Dirt Grabber

And here's how it's shaping up:

Got most my parts together for this thing so I started building, still waiting on a few odds and ends, and I'm not at all happy with the way the leafs are laying out so I'll be cutting those mounts off and doing it again

Rear leafs baby!

Body is just resting...it wont be quite this crooked when it's mounted

Ah the beginnings of a flat bed...

Need to add the stake pockets and fit/stain the bed floor peices but then it'll be ready to mount up

Let me know what you think

Made some progress the last week or so....
Widened out the bed to cover the tires - can't have a flatbed without mudflaps right?

Cab got treated to a does of bondo primer and axial exterior parts

Front bumper - may or may not go in the dumpster

And an overall side shot - flares are just taped on for now, need to trim and shape them to fit the fenderwells on the cab better

Got more done on the flatbed this week - all that's really left now is the wiring and building a styrene box to disguise the project box in the bed

Flatbed ran it's first team comp. Did ok, all things considered, tires have got to go though, the tread pattern is just too tight for running in muddy areas

Couple pics that were shot during the run
