AX10 esc location
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:04:33 PM »

Are you guys mounting an upgraded ESC in the stock location?

I'm wondering mostly because I'd like to lower the CG as much as possible... maybe even remove the top tray entirely, if possible.

Most mount the esc on top of the front upper links - the stock tray can be removed it really serves no purpose unless you actually want to mount a battery on it (which isnt recomended).

Thanks Nate!

I still need to get some saddle packs for my axles before I really get into it. Do you use a single tray or 2 small ones on your axles?

Running nimh, or nicd split packs keep the servo centered on the axle in the stock location and use two battery plates on either side of that.

If you're running a small lipo you can make or buy a large battery tray that spans the axle and pushes the serrvo off to one side to leave room for the lipo

Basically it's all about keeping the weight low, but also keeping balanced as much as possible side to side on the axle
